This hand-made, built to scale plank-on-frame (just as the Columbia was built) is no exception. She is the LARGEST Americas Cup Challenge model of this quality that I have seen and our family has been collection "all things nautical" from sailboat models to doubloons and other pirate artifacts for over 35 years.. actually longer. Notice the beautifully finished plank stained decking and other detail ! Proper Rigging coupled with antique sail add to her richness ! Please email me for additional photographs and with any question you may have. Regards, Genevieve' We loved her the first time we saw this beautiful model and purchased her on the spot. A year later, this sister ship/sister model became available and without hesitation purchased her for the office. The one we are keeping is identical and sits beautifully displayed over the mantel at our summer home. This model being offered also is not new, it is some years old - However, it is in the same condition in every respect as the day we got her.... and is dust and smoke free. She has a beam at mid-ship which is to scale and is an impressive 10" gunwale to raised gunwale. Her antique sails and authentic rigging add equally to her richness and beauty. Her hull sides are finished in high-gloss marine enamel with a red boot stripe and as her namesake, a natural hand-laid varnished bottom and keel. She comes with the a hand-made (wood & peg method - no glue, not nails, no screws, padded display base) display base although ours is hung about 18" above the mantel with special brackets from the Oslo, Norway. The deck is absolutely beautiful and if you are a sailor, or just enjoy old-time shipbuilding craftsmanship and woodworking you will appreciate the teak collored planked decking. She is the finest model of her type available anyw at any price. For anyone who would not be familiar with this type and quality model, in a high-end model shop she would at least $2500.00 if you could find such a piece. You are always welcome to write me personally with any questions, for additional photographs of any of our treasures, or just to say hello and introduce yourself. Best regards, Genevieve' ... also listed from our collection are; A Classic Nantucket Lighthsip Basket / purse with Historic Scrimshaw from our family...
