This is the large full size S2 that has been discontinued. Many people refer to it as the best knife CRKT has ever made and it has been nicknamed "the poor mans Sebenza". The cost of ATS-34 plus titanium and all the heavy duty hardware made it too expensive for CRKT to keep producing this knife and sell it at a resonable price. It has a 3.5" blade with a plain edge and is 8.5" open and 5" closed. This a strong and tough knife that should last a lifetime. ATS-34 is made in Japan and is one of the finest steels ever made for knife blades. It resist corrosion and is a very hard steel yet it is fairly easy to sharpen. The handle has a section which flexes over to hold the blade in the open position. Moving that piece of the handle aside with your thumb releases the blade so you can easily close it. The S-2 incorporates the Frame Lock design that serves as one of the most secure, safe and strong blade locks known. The Frame Lock is ingeniously designed as an integral part of the 6AL4V titanium handles, so no separate locking liner is needed. The unique geometry of the Frame Lock transfers the load straight through the arced lock arm into the mid-frame and keeps the contact line of the blade and lock together even under the most extreme high loads.
