is a pretty, rich looking ring. We do not believe it is terribly old, no more than 10 years or so, to the mid-1990s. It is designed in a sort of neo-classical Roman style, with vertical columns on either side of the bezel set garnet, and beading down the shoulders. The focus of the ring is a rich red oval-cut garnet weighing, we estimate, about 2.00CTS. Because the garnet is bezel-set, we have little way of gauging depth, so the weight is approximate. However, it measures 7mm x 5mm so we think the estimate is close. The ring is not marked but tests as 14K gold and we guarantee the gold karetage. The rich red of the garnet (it's not at all orange or brackish) and the pretty details are what makes this ring so pretty. The edges of the bezel show some very minor wear but the garnet is perfect. It weighs a very substantial 6.0 grams, and measures to a size 5-1/2. While it can be resized, the back is ridged so if you wish to resize, your jeweler needs to take a bit of extra care. This is a great everyday ring, because although it has a large gemstone and lots of detailing, t are no prongs to stick up and catch on things, and the garnet is flat and protected by the bezel. We haven't seen anything like this around so wonder if it is a discontinued style of some kind. It has lots of character and is quite comfortable on. SELLER TERMS: We read more
