Firstly, sorry about the awful photo. Really difficult to take highly reflective black glass without getting an imposed image of the seller!! So this art deco piece of commemorative glasswear is so much nicer than I can convey. I think that its a paperweight, given at the time of the opening of the first Mersey Tunnel linking Liverpool and Birkenhead in 1934. My late uncle, whose property this was, lived on Merseyside for many years and indeed worked for shipbuilders, Cammel Lairds. Its a piece of plain highly reflective glass, measuring 13cm by 7cm", black on both sides and the reverse in absolutely plain, front has on it, within a border, Mersey Tunnel 1934.
