During World War II the metal Nickel was in short supply and needed for the industrial war effort, as a result the US Mint replaced the nickel with silver and produced the five cent pieces in 35% Silver from most of 1942 through 1945. This set contains one each year and mint mark that was produced in silver. These are original circulated coins in very good condition. The photos in this AD is a stock picture but represent the coins that you will receive very well. These 11 coins in a display card contain .619 ounces of pure silver in a protective soft plastic sleeve. These coins have been recently cleaned and have a nice luster, however like all silver products they will become gray in color over time and if desired the luster can be restored with a good quality silver cream.Enjoy your historic and increasingly rare collection. NOTE: Of course this 70 year old set includes the exceeding rare1943-D which accounted for less then 2% of the total silver war nickels minted.
