AntiqueLeather Cased Crochet Hook Set English * Circa 1900 This compact set contains 6 steel crochet hooks, all of which I think are original to the set. The English sizes are imprinted on the handles and are 3, 4, 4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2 & 6. The hooks are impressed with a diamond pattern at the tops and are in great condition with no rust, discoloration or damage. The hooks are intact and strong. The tri-fold leather case is lined with silk and has leather straps to hold the hooks. It is gold embossed with the name of the retailer, Jevons & Mellor in Birmingham. They were a well known ladies fancywork department store in Birmingham from 1880. They advertised in all of the ladies publications and shipped all over the country. The case is in excellent condition with no damage, the leather is supple and it closes well with a snap catch. The crochet hooks are 5" long and the little case measures 5 1/4" by 1 1/2" (closed).
