Avid S&P collector sacrificing collection duplicates so I can get some more shakers! And some more room to put them in! Please be sure to see my other auctions. I will be listing lots and lots of sets and bunches of other accumulated items.

CATEGORY: Salt and & Pepper Shakers / Storybook Characters.
DESIGN: Up for auction is the complete series of Storybook Pairs from Danbury Mint, complete with their Storybook Shelf. These nursery rhyme themed storybook characters were offered by Danbury Mint in 1989 and were sold by subscription only. A new set arrived every month or so until all twelve sets had been received. The open book display shelf was included with the sets. They are stamped on the bottom with "Storybook Pairs © 1989" and the names of the characters. The sets include.

The Tortoise and The Hare. Cinderella and The Fairy Godmother. Peter Pan and Wendy. Snow White and The Wicked Queen. Geppetto and Pinocchio. Hansel and Gretel. Alice In Wonderland and The White Rabbit. Red Riding Hood and The Wolf. Jack and Jill Rapunzel and The Prince. The Princess and The Frog Prince. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

Done in fine detail and extremely difficult to find even just one set, the whole series all together in the same place at the same time is indeed a rare treat, and even more rare with the shelf. AND, at a BARGAIN price since each set of shakers were valued at $65-$75 apiece way back in 1998. If you are interested in bidding on this series I do have close up pictures that I can send you if you will e-mail me. SHIPPING NOTE: Due to the size and weight of the shelf, it will be shipped in a separate box in order to protect the safety and integrity of the shakers. In order to be fair to both of us, especially you, I will package up the shakers (with the shelf being boxed separately) and obtain exact shipping charges once I have access to the winner's zip code. The shakers or the shelf will not be packaged for shipment until after the auction closes in case t are any questions.
MAKER/COUNTRY: Danbury Mint / Hand crafted in Taiwan.
SIZE: Sizes to 4". The shelf, designed as an open storybook is mounted on a backboard with two sawtooth hangers in place. The shelf measures approximately 22" wide overall by approximately 14" tall overall, and approximately 3 1/4" deep.
CONDITION: The conditions vary from excellent to not so good, depending on the set. Unless otherwise noted below the shakers are in excellent or very, very good condition.
DAMAGE: Unfortunately some of these shakers have not led a very enchanted life. I will try to describe all damage and type tof that I could find. Gretel has been mended at her waist - all the way around, although the repair has been quite neatly done and is not noticeable unless very closely examined. Snow White has suffered the most with a broken left arm, which has been repaired, unfortunately not the best I have seen. She has also had a broken right hand, also mended and somewhat better than her left arm. It also appears that when her hand was broken her thumb was also barely chipped on the end. Wendy's right arm has been mended, rather neatly, but she also has a very small chip on the end of her right thumb. The tortoise has had a broken neck which has been repaired quite neatly. He also has a small scrape on his headband, probably as a result of the broken neck. The star has been broken off The Fairy Godmother's wand and has evidently disappeared into infinity. The damaged shakers are shown in Photo 3. Rapunzel has some dark streaks in her long hair which I am not sure were intended. I have been successful in removing some of them but hesitated to scrub too hard or use too abrasive a cleanser for fear of damaging the shaker, leaving that decision to the new owner. Tweedle Dum has what appears to be some sticker residue on top of his hat, which, once again, I have been successful in gently removing some of it, but leaving the final decision to the new owner.
