I am not a coin dealer - I started this penny collection when I was a kid in the 1960s, filling the slots in the Whitman Coin Folders with pennies I found in my pockets, my mother's purse and a coin jar my next door neighbor had. For years it traveled with me as I moved from my mother's house to apartments and finally to the house my wife and I live in now. About ten years ago I resolved to complete the collection and by slowly purchasing pennies I did just that. As is obvious in the pictures, I always bought the grade of penny that might have turned up in my pocket. Nowhere is that more apparent than on the final purchase I made, the 1909-S VDB. As can be seen in the last two pictures, it is very heavily worn, the VDB almost obliterated, but the bottoms of the letters are visible next to the lip around the coin. The other coins that I have included pictures of both front and back for are the key dates of 1909-S, 1931-S and 1914-D (note that the Whitman folder has no slot for a 1922 without mint mark, so that key date is NOT included).
Once the collection was complete, my motivation lagged but I kept it up to date until the US Mint chose to change the design for the Lincoln cent's centennial in 2009. I have only found one of the many designs they released that year in my pocket so I feel this is a good time to bid farewell to the collection since it encompasses an even 100 years. I will ship this in a Priority Mail Flat Rate box, insured, to the winning bidder. I debated a long time as to whether to accept returns or not but, since the coins are in open slots in the folders, I have chosen not to accept returns. If you have questions, please ask.
