Set of 15 female figurines dressed in traditional costume for each of the USSR republics. This rare VINTAGE set of dolls was made in the former Soviet Union (USSR, CCCP). The costumes of the dolls represent the 15 "Soviet Socialist Republics" that made up the USSR. Made of wood, painted and wrapped in solid and figured tissue papers, papier mache, cotton fiber, and cording. On the base of each figure is a paper label with the region the doll represents printed in the Cyrillic alphabet. Height is 3 ½ to 4 inches tall. All are in excellent condition considering their age. They have never been on display only stored in a box in the top of a closet. The colors are still vibrant, the tissue paper is still crisp and all the cords (hair) are in place. Please see the photos in close-up to get a sense of the condition. I have not photographed every aspect of every doll, but would be willing to do so upon request. The set remains a remarkable, intact, highly collectible set of 15 doll figures. Individual dolls may sometimes show up for sale on eBay, but a complete set like this is nearly impossible to find.
