Large Rare Complete Ernst Plank "Helios" Magic Lantern Projector In Original Case With Double Burner and 4 Slides, c. 1890. Before the "Gloria, " (and many would say even after the "Gloria") the shining star of the Ernst Plank line of magic lantern projectors was the "Helios." With its large brass lense, coppered accents and double burner with blue watchglass viewing port, it was the original "cadillac of toy magic lanterns." Made in Nuremberg, Germany. For reference see the Luikerwaal site under Ernst Plank. All lenses are in place and in good condition. Burner has two wicks that move freely. Chimney and watchglass are all intact. Grey "russian metal" finish is good with no obvious rust. Cast feet are intact with copper finish. The box is intact some corner wear and wear to paper cover and has the instructions pasted inside and a nice label outside. Slides are intact with most of the paper edging intact. Some images show wear but most still project well. Slides are 2" by 7 1/4."An intact Helios is exceedingly rare in this condition. If I didn't have one more, I would never part with this one. It has been a featured favorite in my shows for years. Buy With Confidence.
