Complete & Working Unrestored 1955 Rock Ola 1448 Jukebox, imported from the USA Prev Stop Play Next Sorry People but I had to remove this and relist it as the price was incorrect . You know what they say - 'If it looks too good to be true then it probably is'. Hopefully you will all still see the great value offered here! Dimensions: Height - 56" (142cm) Width - 34" (87cm) Depth - 27" (69cm) The Rock Ola 1448 'Icicle' was manufactured in 1955 and holds 60 vinyl records (120 selections) playing at 45rpm. With Rock Ola's 'Tru-Tone' Hi Fidelity valve amplifier and 15" mains energised speaker with tweeter horn for better tone reproduction this model has a good solid sound with Bass & Treble adjustments available. The dedicated 45 playing carousel mechanism had been in production since 1952 and was tried and tested to give reliable use and easy service. The bright anodised grill and waffle glass seperators with chrome accents reflect multi coloured light down the front of the jukebox while the metal interior with moulded plastic deck cover sparkles as the record plays flat on the turntable in front of you. Chrome cabinet trim and Blond toned Mahogany side veneer with Burl Walnut detail finish off this piece of mechanical art. This jukebox has been imported from the USA on our last container and is 'as found' in unrestored condition. It lights up, scans, plays a record and the amplifier tubes (yes the valves are still present!) light up but as someone has taken the cartridge out of the tone arm we cannot hear it playing. The mechanism and selection unit are complete apart from the popularity meter which is missing but this does not affect the operation of the jukebox. The coinage is also missing but the jukebox can easily be used on free play once restored. The speaker looks to be in good condition, the cone being tight with no tears. The buttons are dirty but in good condition as is the Burl Walnut decalling on the front door. The jukebox has obviously been stored on a damp floor therefore there is some mildew inside and the veneer is de-laminating at the bottom of the cabinet sides. There is very little rust present on the mechanism and other components and only light wear on the chrome. Two of the waffle glasses are broken and the plastic mechanism cover has some cracks at the rear but is complete and they are not obvious. The original lid glass is intact with no damage to the screenprint. The lid lock barrel is missing as is the plywood back door. If you want to try your hand at a restoration then this Rock Ola is an ideal starting point. We have included lots of photographs for you to look at, as honest a description as possible and t he machine is available to view anytime in our shop so that you can make a properly informed decision. A Fully restored example of the Rock Ola 1448 would now cost you in the region of �6500 so this is a great way of owning an original piece of American music history for a fraction of the cost.
