Alfred Iverson, Jr. (1829-1911) was a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. After serving in the U.S. Army, he resigned and joined the provisional Confederate army in North Carolina, w he fought along the Cape Fear River and was commissioned colonel of the 20th North Carolina regiment in August 1861. He was wounded during the Seven Days' Battles, but later led his regiment at South Mountain and Antietam, and when Garland was killed he took over the brigade. He was appointed Brigadier General in November 1862 and led the brigade at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and during the Atlanta campaign. He fought Stoneman near Macon, capturing him at Sunshine Church. This is a signed card, 3 1/4 x 2 1/8 inches. The ink is slightly faded but otherwise very good.
