Large size Civil War era albumen print of indentified Confederate Major Charles McCann. Pencil identified on reverse "Major Chas. McCann CSA" across back & "Major Charles McCann Esq." around top. Mount measures 10" x 8" and laid oval photograph measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/4". General toning & all-over foxing. Soft corners to mount, crease left middle side, crease lower right corner, neither affects image. Unable to positively identify Major Charles McCann but National Park Service records show a Lieutenant Charles McCann in 3rd. Virginia Regiment, Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, Confederate States of America. Found among photograph lot from Baltimore estate. Jenkins was the family name & one of the ancestors was one William Jenkins, a Mexican War veteran and late 19th century newspaperman in Baltimore. Any questions please e-mail & good luck.
