ConfederateStates of America $10 note, issued September 2nd, 1861. Image of Robert M.T. Hunter, Confederate senator, at left, allegorical female leaning on anchor at center, Jefferson Davis at right. This bill was glued to backing by previous owner. (The backing is the paper material that comes with a picture frame, like the backing of a writing tablet.) The backing bears this writing: "Christmas, 1975 Dear -----: This is part of the $5050 worth of my great-grandfather's fortune, which he gave my mother, + which she gave to me. Love ----- " Family tradition says that this money belonged to James Grandison Leroy Huey of Alabama.
