Officers Helmet Plate for the Connaught Rangers worn between 1881 and 1901. Lovely condition, just not my thing. Purchased recently to use as part of a deal towards a Royal Humane Society group that unfortunately, fell through. Having a clear out of bits and bobs to fund my further purchase - please see my other items for Humane, lifesaving, Irish, Royal Fusiliers, Special Constabulary and Royal Navy items.Description - backing plate with separately applied QV crown and guilding. Applied, guilded centre plate with silver scroll at the base - "The Connaught Rangers" - wire attachment to centre plate. Centre feature of silver stringed Harp of Erin over silver scroll "Quis Seperabit" - both silver wire attachment over green cloth (tested as organic - definately not synthetic) to cental backing plate. Small pools of guilding are visible at sides of laurel wreath. Some traces of gilt oversplash. Multi-piece construction. One thing of note is that original copper retaining pins for centre-plate have been replaced to rear with brass ones, similar to cap badge pins. Easily changed back and only a cosmetic feature - please see pics. Still hopeful of a deal with another medal dealer, so be advised that I reserve the right to withdraw at any time a long as no bids placed.Starting price only but willing to take RHS medals/groups in exchange or read more
