Really Stunning piece! A little information about the art glass produced by Consolidated Glass Company Mr. Reuben Haley Glass Designer Extraordinaire born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 5th 1872. Mr. Haley made an amazing contribution to Americans glass design from the late 1800's to 1932. Mr. Haley persuaded Consolidated Glass Company to enter in to the art glass business in 1925 he designed their line of Martele glassware. Mr. Haley had been greatly influenced by the glass work of Rene Laliques' art deco glass. In 1926 Consolidated presented its Martele line, some of which were copies of glassware made by Rene Lalique while others were simply inspired by his designs. Some collectors refer to the Martele line as being sculptured glass because the designs are boldly raised above the background. Collectors are mostly interested particularly in the glasswares made after 1925 such as the Black Satin Glass - Martele - Ruba Rombic - Cosmos & Color Glassware. Some Consolidated pieces are comparable to those made by the Phoenix Glass Company but the colors are a little different. Consolidated made Martele glass in blue - green - pink - white - crystal and custard glass with added satin finish or a fired on color.
