DESCRIPTION:
Rare. Beautiful, and Signed 19th Century Conta & Boehme Trinket Box and ink well combination. Attached to the front of the trinket box is an ink holder and sander pot. Marks on bottom of lid is 3201 with a 39 under it; the bottom numbers read 106 and 109 with a gold painter's mark of 98. It has two numbers because one was for the trinket box and the other is the ink well. It is 3 3/4 inches tall and 4 inches long and the depth is 4 inches. A beautiful Conta & Boehme item to add to your collection! This particular style of ink well comes in an assortment of different designs. See page 70 of Vogel's book, "Victorian Trinket Boxes" for a similar ink well or in the Vogel's book, "Conta & Boehme Porcelain" on page 193. CONDITION: Good condition. T is a firing crack under the part w the mirror attaches to the top. It doesn't go through and you have to look close to see it. With age the gold gilt has worn off in places. I see a scratch w the dresser top fits into the bottom of the box. Top of sanding pot has two tiny chips, they show because they are dirty. I think the ink wells may have had lids, but I'm not sure. It does need cleaning. Your eyes may be better than mine, but even with a magnifying glass, I see no other damage. I am not an expert, so I try to explain every thing I see. My shipping is very professional and I wrap every thing in bubble wrap or other safe shipping material; and I double box when necessary. This item requires a large Priority Mail box for safe shipping. INSURANCE IS REQUIRED AND IS INCLUDED IN THE SHIPPING COST for all USA shipments. SHIPPING DISCOUNTS FOR MORE THAN ONE ITEM IF THEY ALL FIT IN ONE BOX.
