DESCRIPTION:
Excellent Conta & Boehme, porcelain, Fairing, Pampered Dog on a Pillow Trinket Box. These little fairing boxes were given away at fairs during the mid 1800s in England. Some of the boxes could be purchased at gift stores, but many of them were prizes for winning a game at the fair. This box depicts a cute dog (Spaniel?) sitting on a pillow with a horn and a ball next to him. This type of box is small and were possible made as a toy. This box is pictured on page 72 of the Vogel's Book, Victorian Trinket Boxes . This is marked with a hard-to-read number, 114 and part of a gold painted number and what looks like IIV. Measurements are 2-1/2 inches tall, 2-3/4 inches long and 1-3/4 inches wide. I am currently selling a large part of my collection because we are retiring and moving to a smaller home. Please ask questions because I am not an expert on antiques, but I do try to describe things the best I can. Please see my other Victorian figurines and trinket boxes that are listed this week. CONDITION: Excellent Condition! The gold trim has worn off in some areas which is common for a box that's over 140 years old. No chips, cracks or other problems that I can see. Your eyes may be better than mine, but I don't see any other damage. I try to describe to the best of my ability because I am not an expert on antiques.
