Contemporary Art Platter/Wall Hanging You are bidding on a wonderfully unique platter/wall hanging. It is the most unusual piece we have ever sold. It is unusual because of its irregular shape and deep, dramatic colors. As you can see from the photographs the edging is unevenly fluted. Unlike more traditional pieces, this one is designed for the person looking for something different. The artist has titled this piece, "Pool of Color." With a close look at this platter/wall hanging, one sees cobalt blue and green color flowing from the middle and being suspended in the glass. As the color spreads out toward the edge it becomes more dramatic, a stippling effect takes place in the green, and the colors finally flow out in different directions creating this pool of color that is similar to a pool of water lazily meandering around the terrain. The cobalt blue and green are stunning together. Place hors d'oeuvres on this beautiful platter or impress your guests by hanging it in that special place on the wall that needs just the right touch. It will speak for itself. It would make a wonderful centerpiece on the dining room table over the holiday. Fill it with cobalt blue and silver Christmas tree balls and you'll love it. It is a new work signed by Celeste North, having been created just Wednesday, April 11, 2007 . Y ou are the first to view it. It has never been on display until now. Its unique translucent pattern on the surface exhibits colors of white, blue, and green. On the underside of the platter, it is a completely different pattern. Take a close look at the backside and you will see a stipple pattern with less white and much blue and green. As with any glass that is hand-blown, t may be subtle variations in the colors throughout or small bubbles. These marks identify it as a truly handmade individual piece of art. This platter, which began as a molten substance, will catch your attention quickly. It is a large fluted platter that measures 23 inches across at the two most distant points, 3.25 to 3.5 inches high and approximately 2.5 inches deep. It has a scalloped edge all of the way around the perimeter. The platter sits atop a flattened glass pedestal that has been fused to the bottom of it. We will attach a hanger to the bottom of this piece for wall hanging per request from the winning bidder. We are pleased to be offering this unusual work of Celeste North, known also as Berni.
