FINE LATE 19TH CENTURY CONTINENTAL SILVER MINIATURE SINGLE HORSE COACH; WELL APPOINTED RETRACTABLE ROOF COACH; LOGN COAT AND HAT DRIVER; TWISTED ROPE REINS; LADY PASSENGER IN PERIOD ATTIRE; 5 OUNCES
This is an extremely well crafted, late 19th century Continental silver miniature coach. We believe it to be German or Dutch, though unmarked. Shown with two other miniature coaches. These offered in separate auctions. The well appointed retracable roof coach with standing driver, in period long coat and cap. Holding fine, twisted silver reins to a single horse. Coach with engraved faux wood planks. Lanterns to both sides of driver. Front axle moves to allow steering of the coach. Spoked moveable wheels, as real. Unmarked. This beautifully crafted late 19th century Continental silver miniature single horse coach with driver and passenger is 5 1/2 inches long and 2 1/2 tall. Exceptionally thick, heavy guage solid silver construction, weighs 4 1/2 ounces. In excellent condition. The horse, driver and passenger retains much of their original detail. The twisted silver rope reins intact. Wheels rotate as coach moves. Some tarnish in difficult to reach places, as shown. Unmarked. Not unusual for antique silver miniatures. Tests coin purity or higher. For the discerning collector of the fine antique Continental silver miniatures. Please feel free to inquire directly about this, or any item we've listed. Hopefully, not too many. Remember, the items you see are antiques. Hence, have an expected amount of wear from normal use. As such, returning an item because we failed to mention the tiniest bit of wear, or barely discernible flaw is not acceptable. Nor do we accept returns based on buyer's remorse. Nor change of taste, or because a buyer did not realize how "small" four inches might be once in hand. Please note, Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax. We have over 4000 feedbacks. And, are quite proud of our 99.9% rating. We received favorable notice in the March 12th, 2006 New York Times. Page 8, Business Section, in a well written article on silver collecting. Copy furnished upon request. From our personal collection, a fine mid 19th century coin silver basket by Edward & John Moore is illustrated in the cover article in May/June 2008 Silver Magazine. Enjoy....and good fortune in your bidding.
