CONTINENTAL WALNUT AND FRUITWOOD CHEST. 18th century. Four drawer chest with chamfered corners; molded corners and base; brass batwing escutcheons and unique brass bail handles; molded paneled drawers- 38 in. x 53 in. x 25 1/2 in.Provenance: Estate of Alice Ingersoll Nagle, Chevy Chase, MD Overall fair condition with considerable age cracks to back top of chest as well as throughout piece. Scattered surface abrasions, discoloration and rubbing of finish, pitting, water marks, and possible cigarette burns to top. Surface abrasions, age separations, losses, and minute traces of white paint found on molded and chamfered corners. Losses to molded edges of right side of top paneled drawer. Scattered losses, surface abrasions, and piting with past restoration to piece throughout. Significant vertical age cracks to each left and right side of chest.
