Up for auction is a vintage earthenware large tea pot in the "Buttercup" pattern from Spode Copeland. It is 11 1/4" long from tip of spout to the back of the handle and 5 1/4" wide by 6" tall to the top of the finial. T were two sizes of this teapot that were made and this is the larger of the two. The body is ribbed and the top portion of the pot has the embossed wicker pattern. T are yellow flowers with dark brown bands. The lid repeats the pattern. The back of the handle is decorated with the floral design . The rims are scalloped. T are no chips or cracks. T is light glaze crazing. The top portion of the spout has staining and discoloration, plus glaze loss and paint loss in spots, although t are no chips (see photos). I think that t was a plastic guard over the spout for a period of time, and that caused the damage. The lid is perfect. It has the older brown backstamp mark that reads COPELAND SPODE ENGLAND BUTTERCUP along with green handwritten letters and numbers that are not legible . This pattern has been discontinued. I will be listing many pieces of this pattern over the next few days. Good luck bidding and thanks for looking!
