This is an auction for an original, very near mint / boxed & very rare Corgi Gift Set 21 Chipperfields Circus Crane with Cage/Elephant & Menagerie Trailer issued from 1970 -1972 only & only having 22,000 examples sold. This is the rarest Chipperfields item that Corgi ever issued & are extremely hard to find in boxed condition. Take a look at the detailed close up pictures to judge the superb condition of this rare example. The Crane Truck is in virtually mint condition with only two pin prick marks to the blue paintwork & two pin head size chips to the underside on the engine sump. The side sticker is mint with no wear. The rear ratchet arm is shiny & intact. The boom is still lovely & shiny with only slight oxidization to the top surface. The lifting hook is lovely & shiny like new. It has the original string on the winding mechanism which works perfectly. The cab windows are mint with no marks or scratches. The wheels are still shiny & the original tyres are still lovely & soft. The rear tow hook is intact. The Original cage & elephant are in mint condition with no damage. The cage is the rare version with the clear plastic end panel with imitation bars that was only issued with the Gift Set 21. The elephant is also the rare & early 1970s solid plastic version correct for this set. The trailer is very near mint with only around six minute chips to the blue paintwork & around five pin head size chips to the red paintwork. All the wheels are lovely & shiny with nice soft original tyres. All the suspension parts, front steering assembly & plastic tow frame are fully intact with no damage. All three cages are 100% original with the original card floor panels & original animals (bear, baby bear, standing lion, sitting lion, standing tiger & sitting tiger). The cages have no cracks or damage anywhere, all the lifting eyes are intact. Two of the cage stickers are mint the other has a tiny 2mm diameter rub to the print. The three scenes are all different showing the jungle, snowy forrest & African plains. The cages have the original black elastic cord that holds them to the trailer. This set also has the original un-used sticky back pads on the backing paper that are used to stick the animals down in the cages. The original outer box is in superb condition with lovely bright colours & no fading. It has some corner & edge rubbing. All the endflaps on the right hand end are fully intact with only slight wear to the hinge points. The main endflap & one inner flap on the other end are all intact with slight wear to the hinge points, the lower inner flap is missing. The acetate window has been neatly replaced with the correct thickness of plastic, it is slightly un-glued at the bottom. The rear of the box shows the lovely bright retro artwork showing the vehicles being used at the circus. There are two very faint curved water marks on the front face of the box near the top & there is an area of surface print loss on the right hand end on the back. The inner polystyrene tray is in virtually mint condition with only a couple of slight rubs & a tiny crack to a raised lug where the crane truck sits but its hardly noticeable. This is a really superb example of an extremely sought after, highly collectable & very rare Corgi Chipperfields diecast. It would be fantastic for a Corgi Chipperfields collector & would look amazing in any collection, the winning bidder will not be disappointed.
