Each set comes with its own collector card and unique collector number Each Model Includes Display Stand Model retired by Corgi in 2007 Very limited supply in stock; these will not last long... is how the AA36607 Corgi Collector Packet describes this unbelievably cool P-38 Bomber -- and it comes in a huge collector box (12.50" x 11.00" x 4.00") perfect for protecting your model for maximum appreciation in value: "14th Fg were activated 15th January 1942, they flew P-38s to the United Kingdom via the nothern ferry route. The 14th flew sweeps and practice missions under the Royal Air Force's guidance from Ford and Tangmere. They were assigned to the 12th Air force, XII Fighter Command on the 14th September 1942, but continued to operate under VIII Fighter Command. The Ground Echelon left Atcham on the 30th of October 1942 and sailed on the USS Brazil and USS Uruguay from Liverpool and arrived in Oran on the 10th of November 1942. The Air Echelon departed for Portreath on the 6th of November 1942, and flew to North Africa from the 10th to the 14th of November 1942. They fought with the 12th Air Force in North Afrrica and later with the 15th Air Force in Italy on bomber escort duties. Colonel Taylor kept his P-38J with the 49th FS during his time as CO of the 14th FG. T is no record that he scored any victories in this particular fighter, although Wilson H Oldhouse claimed an FW 190 while flying it on 11th June 1944. Taylor was struck down with polio and transferred out of the group on 17th July, command being transferred to Colonel Daniel Campbell."
