For auction is a gold-plated and enameled CORO pin in the shape of a man wearing a gold turban and collar as well as faux pearl earrings; t is a tiny ruby-red rhinestone in the turban. This kind of exotic subject is generally referred to as a blackamoor, an extremely popular motif in costume jewelry for decades and in fact Coro produced many beautiful blackamoor pieces in the 1940s especially. The pin is in excellent, vintage condition with no important problems. The pearls and rhinestone are fresh, the plating unmarred, the catch straight and secure. However, t are two fleabites in the enamel, on the tip of his nose and the high spot of his chin..Looking around the net, I found another version of this design selling for $195. The difference between the two pins is that the other one has three ostrich plumes on top of the turban. The pin is signed CORO in script. I date this pin to between 1939 and 1941, based on the signature and style. The pin measures 1.5 by 0.75 inches (3.8 by 1.9 cm). Coro was the largest manufacturer of costume jewelry in United States during the golden age of the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Many styles of Coro jewelry is avidly collected today.I will mail this pin to you, as soon as payment is confirmed, by 1st class mail in a padded envelope. Outside the U.S. and Canada, your purchase goes by air-letter post. I
