Mom has just given us a few more of her restored pendants, containing the miniature antique works of art done by Carmelite nuns, long ago. The nuns would create them with the help of a magnifying glass, during the day-time. They used brushes with only a few hairs, and would be in their prayer circle as they painted. In 1960, Mom's silversmith made drawings, and took measurements of each of the original antique pendants, before starting on the restoration project. It took him over one year, to restore them all in sterling silver, and some could not be saved due to the poor quality of the original silver that had been used. The one you are bidding on has had the bale and glass restored, and the paintings are done on a “diamond-cut” Mother of Pearl "canvas". Mom’s intent was to protect the priceless paintings, and create a Catholic devotional that could be used again without fear of damaging the tiny paintings. This one weighs 207 grams, is 5 inches long, and the bale will fit any size chain up to a ¼ inch diameter. Good luck bidding! Sellers: Get your own map today. Click now. Simple."
