CORTEZ DERBY STYLE HANDLE WALKING CANE Locally called Corteza and also known as LAPACHO, IPE or IRONWOOD this wood BRAZILIAN CHERRY is one of the world’s strongest woods. It has the exact same hardness rating as IRONWOOD @ 3410 to 3680 on the JANKA hardness chart. (see chart below) Each week I go to see Alex the cane-maker and I hand select each one I sell. Alex will have up to 100 handles at any given time and I’ll sort through them and find the ones with the most beautiful wood grain’s, then I’ll also look through the stacks of shafts that he has and pick out the shafts to match the handles. Working with Alex we have made several custom canes for many customers that have sent a request to me through EBAY. We can make any style you would like just send me a picture of the handle you would like and let me know how long and how thick it should be my email is . It can then have Your choice of Plain wood, GOLD, White, or Black paint applied (see picture) to really make it stand out!! It can only be done on the right side of the shaft or handle. The handle measures 5 1/2". It is 100% Exotic IPE wood with a decorative and a band of MORA & COCOBOLO at the base of the handle. It is finished with coats of high quality high gloss lacquer. The overall length is 38 3/4” with a 1/2" taper from the top of the shaft to the bottom and has a rubber tip. The shaft is 1 solid piece of exotic IPE hardwood from Costa Rica making it very stable and durable. Please contact us if you need this cane trimmed (shortened) at no extra charge!!
