Lot includes a three page hand written letter from Major. J.M. Sundheimer, American Consul at Harbin, China, written on November 1, 1920 to a woman traveling with a party of the Sunday School Convention under the supervision of Thos. Cook and Sons Tourist Agency. The letter and envelope are guest stationery from the Grand Hotel Des Wagons-Lits, Ltd., Peking (a railway hotel). The letter's content is part personal, as the writer seems to have been taken by the addressee. He mentions tea dances at the "Peking" and at the Grand Hotel, but mentions that "Peking is not as interesting as it was and I am not going out very much now. We saw more of the city from the Wall the other evening than I have seen since." The group the addressee was with was going to Shanghai. The cover has two 3 cts Republic of China stamps, with postal markings (shown) from Peking. Other markings, also shown, on reverse. The three photos, described, are from Forbidden City.
