This is a lovely black-tipped horn. All black tipped horns are striking. This one is nice. The body is almost scrimshaw quality. Most of the color will sand off, but that blood mark on the far side will not go away. You will be able to do some light to moderate carving on the tip. I think you can make some lovely scallops on this striking horn . There isn't much of a twist on this slightly oval horn. The base will be very hard to round. Our horns come from grass fed range cattle that are NOT subjected to the stresses of feed lots. These cattle horns are from Hereford or Holsteins cattle that are raised for their beef. They are NOT the black shinny Water Buffalo from India. Water Buffalo horn is usually solid the first 5-6 inches. Therefore the horn cavity is small and it is time consuming to pour powder down the long passageway and out the tip. Our horns are guaranteed 100% for any reason for any time period.
