NO RESERVE BEYOND MY OPENING BID!'s an absolutely beautiful Cowan pottery SEAHORSE console set that includes a crescent shaped, scalloped or panelled console bowl with a foot and two 4 1/2 inch tall candleholders or candlesticks. All three pieces are a wonderful mottled blue glaze on the exterior; the bowl inside has a sort of lavender pinkish glaze (is it called Verbena?). T is a seahorse on each end of the bowl and also on the candlesticks. A perfect match! Stunning! The 16 3/4 inch long bowl has no damage but the glaze inside has fine overall crazing; the little seahorse candlesticks have some fine glaze crazing because the glaze is so heavy over the seahorses part. It doesn't really detract from the beauty of this set because you do not see it from any distance because of the mottled (or stippled?) glaze. One candleholder is marked "COWAN" and also has the number "716". The scalloped console bowl is glazed even on the bottom and I haven't found any mark yet on it, but it is clearly a set. I do not know what year the set is from, but I have read that the Cowan Pottery closed in 1931 so it is no more recent than that. Shipping weight packaged (double-boxed) is 5 lbs. I accept PayPal, checks and money orders--your choice but I do hold your item for up to 10 business days while your personal check clears.
