Rare MIB Cox Thimble Drome RR1 Rear Rotary Valve Model Plane Engine .049 Estimated Value $300-$500 Up for bid with no reserve I have a rare & collectible vintage Cox RR1 model plane Engine. This example is mint & never fired! It comes complete in it's original package with all accesories & paperwork. The plastic packaging shows minor wear & signs of age. Everything you see in the pictures is included! The RR1 uses a rear rotary valve intake rather than a reed valve in an attempt to achieve more power. Production Began in 1956 and ended in 1965. Later engine designs reverted back to the simpler and cheaper reed valve induction system. During the first two years of production these engines came with a silver crankcase. This example has an anodized yellow crankcase which contrasts nicely with the dark blue tank. The engine has an original price of $4.77 printed on the package. In recent years these have become collectors items due to uniqueness and the pretty colors, the estimated value is around $300-500 as of 2008.
