Due to a 'Down-sizing' at work, I have to get rid of some of my Collection including this, my Favorite... This 12 Inch Cram's Unrivaled Terrestrial Globe Dates from around 1936 or possibly earlier, The Silver Oceans are very unusual. I think this Globe was constructed of Paper Gores, hand Laid onto a Plaster Center but I'm not positive. Austria has NOT been Annexed by Germany (the Anschluss), Czechoslovakia is Green, Austria is Orange and Germany is Pink - The Anschluss and Munich Pact have not happened yet. Japanese have already occupied Manchuria and renamed it Manchukuo. Korea is renamed Chosen (Japanese Name for Korea) 'Irish Free State' has traditional name for Dublin (Dublin in Parans.) 'Italian East Africa'. No Pakistan (Baluchistan), or Israel(Palestine). Iran has 'Persia' in Paranthesis Steamship Distances between Major Ports are in Red. Cram's 'Compass Rose' is below Alaska. The Globe is heavily yellowed with age but, underlying Colors are brilliant - in the areas w the Patina has been disturbed, the Silver is Beautiful. I have not done anything to disturb the Patina-exactly as I found it quite some time ago. The Globe has two minor Issues, specifically, 1.) The center of the main Japanese Island of Honshu has been rubbed and two City names are only partially visible and 2.) For whatever reason, someone wrote an "XS" in red Ball-point, just to the left of the Analemma -looks like they were locating a specific Site, -maybe a ship went down t during the War or someone went missing. Overall Outstanding Condition . Black Painted Stand sits flat and shows Minor scuffs from storage. Full Cast Black Meridian in excellent shape, no Chips, Cracks or Bruises - Paint is excellent. The Globe has some small areas w the Paper Gores are starting to lift, creating small bumps. I'll be loading the rest of my Collection so please view my other Items. Thanks for looking.
