This early issue 1950s era railroad police Patrolman badge is from the long defunct Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway. There is no hallmark on the back, and it has an intact single pin.. The piece shows very light wear with minor scratches and is in very good used condition. It appears to be made of nickel silver. It measures 2 1/4 " by 21/2" across the points. It is not known exactly where it was assigned but there were many working in the Chicago terminal yards area. The CRI&P RR was one of the earliest roads in the Midwest organized first in 1852 as the C&RI becoming the CRI&P in 1866. An excellent historical resource on this railroad can be found in Wikipedia.
