"Calico Cats & Gingham Dogs"-Vintage CRIB/ BABY quilt-c.1930-40s size- 32" x 44" (crib size) era- c.1930-1940s cond. very good-excellent ***My vintage items are sold AS IS & are final sale unless I make a huge mistake in my listing. Pls read everything before you bid. I am happy to answer questions & send you additional photos. Thanks for looking, enjoy! This is an exceptional baby quilt/ crib quilt from my personal collection. The pattern is quite rare & the name refers to an old nursery rhyme about a calico cat & a gingham dog. The sweet appliques alternate puppies & kittens, each in a different bright cotton print on a pale yellow solid fabric. Not only are the animals beautifully appliqued, they are also embroidered with all the tiny details, like whiskers and eyelashes & ears & paws. All the animals have bright green eyes---even the dogs!; pink noses & mouths; and black detail lines. The black embroidery is a nice touch, really makes their faces stand out & have expression. The kitties all have rose pink fabric collars; the puppies have red & white candy-striped collars. Hand appliqued/ hand-embroidered/ hand quilted with nice quilting in 1" crosshatch design. 100% cotton. Light, crisp, clean & airy. This small treasure was lightly used & obviously treasured. It has been laundered, including a recent careful wash by me. No fading. No holes or wear except some mild fraying on the matching pale yellow satin binding . The back is a matching solid, pale yellow cotton. T is one light brown small mark, pencil eraser size, on the back. Rare pattern, only one I've ever seen. Great hung on the wall of a nursery or add to your collection of vintage quilted treasures! Enjoy!
