DESCRIPTION: Original 11" x 14" lobby card for the 1946 Republic Pictutures' cliffhanger classic, THE CRIMSON GHOST , starring Charles Quigley, Linda Stirling and Clayton Moore. One of the best post-World War II serials from any studio, THE CRIMSON GHOST boasts one of the most visually memorable and colorful of chapterplay villains, with large, leering skull mask, skeletal gloves and dark shround -- a frightening visage that seared itself collective moppet memories from matinees long ago. Republic Pictures issues individual lobby card sets for each episode of their serials, but only the chapter one chapter lobby cards were printed in full color. The remaining cards were issued in varying duotone hues. This exceptional card is from Chapter 4, "The Laughing Skull" and pictures the Crimson Ghost not only in the border art, but in the scene as well. Only a fraction of the 96 lobby cards issued for this superb serial feature the Crimson Ghost in the scene. He shares this scene with minion Clayton Moore -- three years before he would don the mask of "The Lone Ranger." An exceptional addition to any serial collection! !
