This auction is for an extremely rare Crouse Hinds 4 - Way Traffic Signal Light. This is a PRE-1950s traffic light. You will NOT see another one like this. It is in excellent condition for it age. This traffic signal is a "TYPE D" signal. That means that the doors and hoods are cast as one piece. The hoods can not be removed from the doors. It has a four-sided bottom piece that I have never seen on another traffic light. It is made of sheet metal and warns, "NO U TURN or STOP RIGHT ON RED." The sign is held in place by the four cap nuts that hold the signal together. On the top, it has the "N, S, E, W" directions. The identification tag at the bottom of the signal IS intact and is very legible. A picture of it is available if any one wants it emailed to them. The tag information reads exactly as follows:

It has all the original wiring in it. It has 9 polished aluminum reflectors for the red and yellow lights and one green one. The other three green light reflectors are silvered glass. All reflectors are Crouse Hinds, except for one econolite aluminum reflector. All of the lenses are in excellent condition; None of the lenses are cracked or chipped. All of the yellow lenses are "SMILEY" lens, also one of the green lenses is a "SMILEY" lens. All of the lenses are Crouse Hinds. Traffic signal was originally green, but was painted yellow by the D.O.T. that put it up.

Overall Signal is 54" high by 29" wide by 29" deep. Bottom sign is 10" high by 11" wide by 11" deep. Each visor or hood sticks out 7 1/2" from signal. The signal is 14" wide by 14" deep, not including the hoods.

It has one cut "visor" or "hood", that is 7/8" long. In the picture, it shows the cut area dented. It has been STRAIGHTENED since the picture was taken. In the final picture showing the cut, you can see that it has been straightened, but it is still cut. Should be easily fixed with a Heli-Arc or Aluminum bond(similar to JB Weld at most autoparts stores for $3). Signal did have one broken silvered glass reflector that was replaced with a polished aluminum reflector(replacement silvered glass did not fit); the original broken reflector will also be included, which could be fixed with aluminum tape.

GOOD NEWS!!! I went ahead and prepared the Traffic Signal for shipping. It will be shipped in 4 boxes, packaged very carefully, via USPS. The main box should cost about $84 plus $11 for insurance, so $95(about 55 pounds). The other boxes should not be over $50. So around $150 shipped(educated estimate, possibly less) with NO crating fees and NO shipping arrangements!!! Buyer is required to pay the exact shipping charges and insurance fees. INSURANCE IS MANDATORY. Also, all of the wiring was left intact!!!
