Visit Nun'sHabit my eBay store Mattajade was first introduced at the British Industries Fair in 1932 and became an immediate success. Queen Mary was so taken with the pattern that she purchased many items at the fair. A vast array of Mattajade items can be seen in the photograph of the exhibition stand of Crown Devon in Susan Hill's Book "Crown Devon, The Story of S. Fielding & Co" Mattajade has a matte ground of Jade green formed into a circular pattern with applied hand enameled decoration, often enhanced by a gold overprint. Patterns appearing in the mattajade range include Chinese Dragon, Floral Rockery , Fairy Castle, Butterflies and Coral Trees.
