I found this while cleaning out some of my husband's things. It does light up. No weird smells,no smoke came pouring out and I left it on for 1 hour. Some of the screws have slight rust on them. I have no way to test this other than on or off. From the research I have done this was and still is quite a fantastic Pre-amplifier.
