As I am now concentrating my mineral collection on just specimens from the Midwest, this one needs to find a new home. This is a small gold nugget still showing some crystallization from Olinghouse Canyon, Washoe County, Nevada. I have a friend who travels the western states and purchases gold, and he occasionally brings me a lot of nuggets and crystallized gold specimens. Sometimes he brings me small ones like this 1.9 gram thumbnail, and sometimes he brings me monstrous specimens of several ounces. As these prospectors that he buys from never want to tell him w the pieces come from, he always asks just a general location for me, as I like to know w my specimens come from. This was the largest of the Washoe County lot, so I purchased it. I am selling this one and one other small Nevada specimen tonight. This specimen has good color... while it is a placer nugget, it still has some good crystallization detail (especially on the front) that was not beaten down too much by travelling in the stream. The approximate size of the specimen is: Height=1.4cm, Width=.9cm, Thickness=.38cm. I purchased this when the gold market was about half what it is now.
