A very nicel $1000Bond Certificate from the Confederate States of American that was authorized August 19th, 1861. I believe it was printed by B. Duncan, Lith. Columbia S.C. I apologize for the picture, the coupons are attached to the bond but simply folded over to the back. I can re-photo and send if necessary The bond has a portrait of Judah Benjamin - Jewish statesman and lawyer as well as Attorney General of the Confederate States of America. He was a tremendously close confidant of Jefferson Davis and he escaped to England at the end of the war. He was a US Senator from Louisiana from 1852-1861 and was one of the earliest to advocate secession. For a ton more information on Benjamin you can visit: /publications/chapters/chapter.cfm?documentID=222 This bond is signed by Register of the Confederate Treasury, Robert Tyler; Lawyer and Private Secretary of United States President John Tyler.
