UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS EXTREMELY RARE CONFEDERATE MADE 80 CALIBER LEAD COATED PORCELAIN MINNIE BALL. THIS WAS FOUND ALONG WITH OTHERS, YEARS AGO BY HUNTERS IN TENNESSEE. IN 1864, WITH CONFEDERATE STOCKS OF LEAD RUNNING LOW, VERY HARD PORCELAIN WITH A THIN LEAD COATING WAS SUBSTITUTED IN LIMITED CIRCUMSTANCES. THE PORCELAIN CONTAINED INSIDE THIS ROUND SHOT IS SO HARD IT CAN EVEN CUT GLASS. SINCE IT IS MUCH LIGHTER THAN A SOLID LEAD MINNIE BALL, IT WAS ONLY EFFECTIVE AT CLOSE RANGE. IT DID NOT HAVE THE LONGER RANGE CAPABILITIES OF PURE LEAD BUCK & BALL TYPE SHOT OR MUSKET BALL SHOT. THESE WERE ALSO LIKELY USED FOR DEADLY CRAPE SHOT LOADS AT CLOSE RANGE AS WELL. YOU WILL IMMEDIATELY FEEL THE DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU HEFT THIS BALL IN YOUR PALM. IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A GLASS MARBLE ROLLING ACCROSS THE TABLE. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION STARTING AT ONLY 10.95 FOR THIS VERY UNUSUAL AND VERY RARE CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE ITEM. GOOD LUCK IF YOU'RE BIDDING. AS ALWAYS, YOUR SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED AS MY 11 YEARS ON E-BAY WILL ATTEST. TRACKING IS INCLUDED IN THE COST OF POSTAGE.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 1878-S MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION BUT ONLY APPEARS FOR SIZE AND COMPARISON PURPOSES. THE WINNING BIDDER GETS THE CONFEDERATE LEAD COVERED PORCELAIN MINNIE BALL/CRAPE SHOT ITEM IN THE PHOTO OR ONE IDENTICAL IN THE
