See the picture. Roberto Diago (1920-1957) Born in Havana, Cuba. In 1936 is admitted at San Alejandro´s Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1941 as a professor of painting and drawing. In 1937, he attends the Experimental Essay of Havana´s Painters and Sculptors Free Studio. He has participated at numerous national and international expositions: United States, Mexico, Argentina, Haiti, Spain, Sweden, Guatemala, France and the former Soviet Union. In 1945 he´s named professor of Matanzas Plastic Arts School. He was part of the group of painters that left behind the academic styles, and embraced the influences of european modern art. He was also one of the pioneers that incorporated the black elements on the contemporary cuban plastic.
