This is OUR LAST example from this collection of an original Cuban Arcon used to carry gold and silver bullion as ships cargo. Theses were the chest that traveled from Cuba carrying treasure to Spain from its colonies. They are usually only found underwater as part of a shipwreck, but this one was kept in a private collection. This Cuban-American family in Miami, Florida has decided to part with their last piece of Spanish Colonial furniture. We are acting as their auction assistant and will disclose the providence of each piece to the auction winners upon request. We guarantee the authenticity of this chest and its condition as described below with an unconditional 100% refund within 45 days of auction close. All you need do is return the chest in the same condition as you received it from us. We will not renegotiate prices after auction close, so only bid what you can afford or don't bid. We will however take the chest back for any reason, as stated above. Description: Please look carefully at all the pictures before bidding and if you need more pictures of specific areas sent to you, just ask us for them. The dimensions of the chest are as follows; 34 inches long by 19 inches tall and it is 17 inches wide. The weight is approximately 60 pounds. The wood we are told is Cuban cedar and the dovetailing has definite Cuban-Moorish influence. The bottom moulding of the chest we suspect was a later addition, added to keep it up and away from wet floors. T have been repairs made to the hinges and locks during its long life and it is evident that they were made by a professional. The lock works and it has a key. The lid is very heavy and could do some damage to your fingers if you are not careful. The chest was apparetnly broken into at some point in its long life and then repaired. Overall this is a superb example of Spanish Colonial furniture. Good luck bidding! International buyers ; We make no profit on shipping, so if you find a shipper to get it to your door for less than our shipper, we will use your shipper. The Customs Tax is your responsibility . It will be based on the declared value. If you are an international buyer please contact me before bidding for an estimate of your countries cost.
