This is a fine example of an early 19th century Culpepper type microscope. It is mounted on the accessory drawer, normal for this 18 inch model. The accessory drawer is fitted with the following accessories: specimen clip/pin, stage mount slide holder, 5 lenses, slide box, slide cover box, fish plate, 3 ivory slides. There is also a stage mounted bullseye on the stage. It is signed I.P. Cutts. The "Directory of British Scientific Instrument Makers 1550-1851" by Clifton gives I.P. as an alternative name for John P. Cutts. I can't imagine a microscope collection without a Culpepper type microscope.
