Franklin Mint Currier & Ives Silver Ingots .999 Silver - Issued 1974 - 75 12 piece set Offered at auction is a high quality, complete set of solid .999 silver ingots issued by the Franklin Mint. The set depicts some of the most famous Currier & Ives scenes. These are some of the largest individual ingots issued by the Frankling Mint, and ae unusual in that they are minted in pure .999 silver - most of the Franklin Mint sets are sterling silver. Surprisingly, the packaging is extraordinarily plain for such attractive ingots. Each ingot measures 3 by 2 inches and weighs 85.5 grams. All of the ingots fit snugly into the fitted display case and there is a tasteful easel type frame that displays one ingot at a time... changeable at whim. Considering the age, there are very, very few areas of toning on a few of the ingots but I have chosen to leave the task of spot polishing to the new owner... they may prefer to leave them as they are. The proof finish is stunning... and none of the ingots display any scratches or defects that would detract from the value or the beauty. The ingots in this collection depict the following painting titles... and each is accompanied by the original COA (Certificate of Authenticity) Catching a Trout. "We hab you now, Sar!" Clipper Ship "Flying Cloud" The Life of a Hunter: A Tight Fix Trotting Stallion "George M Patchen, Jr." of California Winter in the Country. "The Old Grist Mill" Home to Thanksgiving "Wooding Up" on the Mississippi The Road - Winter American Express Train haying Time. The First Load Central park, Winter - "The Skating Pond" Yosemite Valley - California Each ingot has a definite '.999' designation stamped into the non-reeded edges. Only 4,421 of these sets were ever issued... and it's a safe bet that the majority fell prey to the 'silver melts' of the late 70s and early 80s, when silver hit an all time high of $50 per ounce. And now, silver is on the march again. All totaled, the troy ounce weight of this set is approximately 1026 grams or 32.99 troy ounces. Undeniably, a valuable asset that should only grow in both value and rarity...but the pleasure of owning such a treasure would be immeasurable. This item will be shipped via UPS with full insurance. The shipping cost is only an estimate and I always refund any overcharge once I know what my actual shipping costs will be. Please view the pictures carefully. I generally take my photographs outside in sunlight to accurately depict the colors and conditions of the items I am offering. If you see any discolorations or other anomalies that would indicate damage, it is either the sun, the clouds, the trees, or me. I try to fully and faithfully disclose any irregularities I find but I am far from perfect and some things may escape my detection. Also, when damage (no matter how minute) I try to make sure that it is clearly depicted in the photos. I believe that I have described the above auction offering accurately and in detail. Please consult the photographs or Email me with any questions. My word is my bond. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact me within 3 business days to arrange return and a refund of your purchase price. Shipping charges are not refundable. The sterling that I am currently listing are not my property and as such, I am unable to make a 'deal' or entertain a 'Best Offer' scenario. They belong to a friend who is in the precious metals business. He has a warehouse that is stockpiled with sterling items that he has purchased over the last 28 years of business, including more than 100 different silver flatware sets. With the soaring price of silver, he had decided to send them all to the smelter to be melted down. Instead, I convinced him to let me try to offer them on Ebay so that they would not be destroyed. I know that there are si...
