Custom Built Bowie Knife with Sambar Stag Handle, Carbon Steel Blade, and Handmade Leather Sheath Maker: Leo Wright Knife: Custom built bowie knife is hand crafted, one of a kind. This is my 4th Bowie for 2006. It is the largest knife I have ever built. I only make 4-6 Bowies a year. Overall length is 17 3/4" L, Blade is 11 5/8" L X 2 1/4" W at its widest point. It is 3/16" thick with a carbon steel blade that has been sharpened. Guard is 3 1/2" L X 1 1/4" W X 3/16" T, Solid Brass. Handle is 5 7/8" L Sambar Stag with two handmade copper rivets. Good Sambar Stag is getting harder to find. This is some of the finest antler you can get for knife handles. Blade, Guard, Handle, and Rivets have all been antiqued to give the knife "An Old World Rustic Look" of an 1840-1850 original Texas style bowie. Knife Sheath: is hand tooled with a border design around a textured back ground. All my stitching holes are punched with a saddle makers awl, one at a time. It is hand stitched, using the lock stitch method, with heavy waxed shoemakers thread. It is constructed of 5-6 oz vegetable oak tanned top grain cowhide. The leading edge has a 3/8" W welt stitched between the leather front and back for added strength. It has a 3-D Texas Star concho on the top of the spine. The star is "Gold plated" with an engraved antiqued silver plated ring back. Color is mahogany antique stain with a hand rubbed oil finish with a sealer applied. It has a skirt with a keeper around the main body of the sheath with a stag antler slide. The sheath will fit belts up to 3 1/2" This Sheath is one of a kind, made especially for this knife. Both items sold as one package for hunters, cowboy action shooters, primitive muzzleloading, traditional and primitive archery, reenacting and collectors.
