Beautiful Damascus Blade with Mammoth Tooth scales! Up for auction, a brand new custom built knife by J. Shaffer of Bluefeather Knives. This knife has a Damascus blade made in the USA by Two Finger Knives. Blade hardness is 56-58 Rc. Awesome pattern on the blade. Blade length is 4 1/4", overall length is 8 1/4". Feels great in the hand! This knife was made in February of 08'. Scales are Mammoth tooth. The last Wooly Mammoth walked the planet about 12,000 years ago. These scales are multiple shades of tans, browns, creams, and blacks. Absolutely gorgeous! Bolsters are Amboyna Burl. Multiple hand rubbed coatings of tung oil have brought out the beauty of the wood, giving it an almost three dimensional appearance. Again, looks fantastic. Custom pins hold the scales firmly in place, and I've also added some tastefully simple filework around the tang on top and running around the handle. The pictures don't do it justice. This knife is new, has never been used or sharpened. I still carry one of my first Damascus/Mammoth tooth knives in the field with me. Blade holds an edge really well! This knife is perfectly useable, or awesome for display! Just a warning though. Mammoth tooth is a lot like stone, and will chip or break if dropped on a hard surface like cement. (I know this from experience, unfortunately) But will hold up remarkably well if properly taken care of. T is no sheath for this knife. I have a friend who will make a sheath for it for an additional $30 if you'd like to carry this in the field. This is a gorgeous knife that I spent many fun hours creating. I hope you enjoy it! The mammoth tooth has a matte finish right now, but if you win this and want it polished to a high gloss, I can do that too. I'm sure it will polish up and be even more beautiful, sort of like agate. Although the matte finish is pretty cool too! Just let me know how you'd like it. Either way it's a pretty neat knife.
