MINT, Massive, Custom Made, Camp Knife by Renowned Maker JIM BEHRING or TREEMAN as he is known to many knife enthusiasts. This 12 1/2 inch knife sports a 7 + inch blade and is a wonderful representation of Jim's work. This particular knife exhibits how Jim's early style was especially influenced by William Scagel designs in his career as one of the worlds most respected and admired knife makers. Jim Behring knives are highly sought after for his artistry, but more importantly because they are absolutely functional. Jim has always sought to make knives that above all, work flawlessly, have perfect balance, and have a certain feel in the hand that is just "Right". T are many knife makers who produce extremely beautiful art knives. Beautiful to look at in a glass case under a spot light, but in the hand they are frequently awkward, obviously not intended to be carried or used. Jim takes great pride in the fact that many of his customers buy and use his knives for what they were made for...the dressing and skinning of game and fish. After all, this is what the grandfather of modern knife making Old Bill Scagel himself made knives for...Usability with Perfect Balance, a Perfect Convex Grind, Perfect Edge Holding Ability, and Flawless Cutting Ability. The fact that they also looked great was just a bonus! The hand sculpted guard is brass and has that Scagel look to it. The handle is a perfect blend of Leather, Red Fiber, Black Fiber, Brass and Aluminum spacers, topped off by an especially Beautiful American White Tail Deer Stag Pommel, pinned by a single brass pin. The blade is hand forged from 3/8 inch D-2 tool steel, flawlessly hand convex ground into a shape that can only be described as a "Signature Scagel". The custom fitted Stacked Leather Sheath that accompanies this knife was made by premier sheath maker Jack Mosher of horsehide, known for its extreme durability. (I accidently left the small red sticker I use to ID knives on the handle when I snapped the picture.)
NO RESERVE!!! Look just below this listing and you'll see what Jim's knives are currently bringing. It is safe to say $100 an inch, at a minimum. YOU set the price!
