I'm Dave Larsen and I've been a custom knife maker for 28 years. I've had one of my most popular patterns, the Arashi Tanto, custom manufactured for me. ( Arashi is Japanese for "Storm") The first thing you'll notice about this knife is that it has a traditional tanto point - not the silly chisel point so many "tantos" are made with. Don't be fooled by gimmicks; this design is based on actual Japanese tantos, updated for a modern market. The second thing you'll notice is the beautiful raindrop damascus blade. It's graced with a wonderful buffalo horn handle with mosaic pins. It's a beautiful knife, one you'll be proud to own, though please note that the fit of the scales to the tang is not perfect on this knife. The knife is literally shaving sharp - Be Careful! It will cut very easily. This is not a toy. The edge geometry is as good as you'll find on almost any custom knife. I've done extensive cutting tests with my personal copy of this knife and can attest that the heat treating is excellent; the knife will hold a good edge through a lot of work. The handsome sheath is made of US vegetable tanned 7 oz leather, hand tooled and hand stitched by me. It fits the knife snuggly, very secure.
