Hi t..... I had the complete description, which I spent hours on - only for TURBO LISTER to have an internal error and lost ALL my data, so if you have any questions, please ask since I'm not gonna deal with listing all the info again, only for it to be dumped again....thanks TURBO LISTER!!!! On with the show...... This is a custom built Schwinn Sting Ray 5 Speed Tandem built by Bob Harton and is pictured on page 121 of the EVOLUTION OF THE BICYCLE ~ Volume 2. T are some minor scratches in the paint, but nothing noticable. The rear seat cover is starting to loosen from w it tucks in under the seat. Westwind whitewall are fine and hold air. 's the story I recieved when I purchased the bike in '04: "I purchased the bike at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg auction several years ago. The Curator of the bike museum in CHICAGO found out about my purchase and knew everything about the bike and wanted it for display in the museum. From what I understand, via the curator at the museum (an ex Schwinn engineer)the bike is the only one built that is a 5-speed stick shift tandem. It was built by a Schwinn engineer with Schwinn parts and was featured in the book, Evolution of the Bicycle. The curator mentioned that Schwinn who only built Mini Twinns only in 1968 had planned on building the 5 speed, but scrapped Mini Twinns altogether after only one read more
